Explanations
Alborz mountain range like a dam in south of Caspian Sea prevents movement of dense clouds of the sea to southern latitude. Because of high humidity in northern slope of this mountain range, we have heavy rain fall in this area which forms forests in impassable mountain. Tarkat forest is one of these forests with watery rivers and numerous waterfalls which run toward Caspian Sea. To reach the Tarkat canyon you should trek 2 days in the forest and feel all these wonders.
Golestan was named Hyrcania, in ancient Greek records, which means "Land of the Wolfs". Although modern Gorgan is only a city and country (sharing the same name), ancient Hyrcania was the name of a greater region on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea (encompassing all of the present day Golestan province, as well as some eastern parts of the Mazandaran province, and some southern parts of the present day Republic of Turkmenistan). In modern times and until 1937 the city used to be known as Astarabad. Gorgan (and in general, the Golestan province), has a world-famous carpet and rug industry, made by Turkmen. The patterns of these carpets are derived from the ancient Persian city of Bukhara which is now located in the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan. Jajim carpets are also crafted in this province.
Tehran is the largest city in the Middle East and is the 16th most populated city in the world with a population of around 7 million people.
Golestān Palace is the former royal Qajar complex in Iran's capital city. The oldest of the historic monuments in Tehran, the Golestan Palace belongs to a group of royal buildings that were once enclosed within the mud-thatched walls of Tehran’s Historic Arg (citadel). The Arg was built during the reign of Tahmasp I of the Safavid dynasty.
The National Museum of Iran is an archeological and historical museum located in Tehran. It preserves ancient Persian antiquities including pottery vessels, metal objects, books, coins etc. It was inaugurated in 1937. The museum consists of two buildings. Building one is dedicated to the pre-Islamic collection, while Building Two contains post-Islamic artifacts.
Carpet Museum founded in 1976 exhibits a variety of Persian carpets from all over Iran, dating from 18th century to present. The museum's exhibition hall occupies 3,400 square meters and its library contains 7,000 books.
